H I E R A R C H Y To keep things simple, Strangers has three 'premade' groups that anyone is allowed to join. They already have a board (perhaps some sub-boards as well) for them, which are easily found. When creating a character, you may choose to have your character already part of a group, or you can wait and join one through roleplay. That's completely up to you. Of course, being in a group isn't required. Your character is obviously allowed to travel alone, or with a group of up to four people (we say up to four just to prevent new groups being created right now, sorry). Besides, if you don't have anywhere permanent to hide out, why would you risk running around with so many people? The posts below tell you more about the individual groups, and who are currently in them. As you can see, the leaders all have a 'See Wanted Ads' (well two leaders, and a 'second'). To make sure we have the right sort of people leading them, I've created a thread here.

C A L I F O R N I A In southern California, in a desert region, lies a network of caves, or lava tubes. They were formed by a volcano that is now dormant, but still provides heat, as you can tell the further you venture down. The entrance is in the middle of a desert, within one of the many rock formations. It's hidden by more rocks, and desert bushes. It is almost impossible to find without knowing what you're looking for. Because it is thin in some areas, light can 'seep' in through the rock above, creating a dimly-lit room during the day. At night, flashlights or lamps must be used, though many have memorized the tunnels. The whole cave system is a massive thing, with many rooms. The West Wing holds all the bedrooms, all of which must be shared to save room. The East Wing is mainly the 'hospital', which is a large room with mirrors high on the walls to reflect light. It also is home to the game field, which can be used to play soccer, hold meetings, and a place to go when it rains (since the caves will flood easily). In the North Wing there are several fields of plants, such as corn, potatoes, etc. They must be watered manually, but to enhance sunlight, very small holes have been created in the ceiling and mirrors have been placed on the walls. The kitchen and eating area, which is one room, is also in the North Wing, though it's actually more in the middle of everything. In the South Wing, you will find everything else--storage, random caves people like to hide out in, and the hot spring. The hot spring is actually the bathroom. It's a massive, loud, and extremely dark cavern. A boiling-hot river is at the far end; it's something newcomers are constantly warned about--if you fall in, you're never getting out. If you don't burn alive, you'll drown. There a couple other 'hot springs' in the room. One, as large as a pool, is comfortably warm and used as a bath. The soap used is homemade and tends to burn the skin, but it's the only thing that will clean the dirt. This pool is also used to wash clothes. The other springs are used as toilets. This place is extremely complicated, and almost impossible for me to give you an exactly definition. Feel free to make up a bit of your own as you go along, as long as it fits the general definition. The walls are a dark purple-brown color. If you haven't read The Host, then you wouldn't have realized this is actually based off of the caves described in the book, found by Jeb. You can read more about them HERE. (Except, keep in mind ours are in southern CALIFORNIA, not Arizona!) R A N K I N G SLeader: See wanted ads.-- The leader is responsible for the group and keeping them safe. They make all decisions regarding the welfare of the group. However, for issues that obviously are split, they must create a vote to prevent anger over 'unfairness'. Leader: ("Second in Command") None-- This is the person the main leader will go to for help. This person can also make decisions, but obviously nothing that's only for the leader to decide. Will take over if the leader is unable. Doctor: None-- Doesn't actually have to be a certified doctor, just someone who knows what they're doing when it comes to injuries. Is a must-need for any group, otherwise they'd easily fall ill and die. Usually has some sort of medical history, a med student, nurse, doctor, etc. Spends most of his/her time in the East Wing, sometimes even sleeps on the beds there. Assistant: (to the Doctor) None-- Basically, if there is someone else that has some sort of medical history, though not as much as the Doctor, they'll be known as the doctor's assistant. They'll also help out in the clinic, but won't be there as often as the doctor. Also helps out with normal chores. C H O R E SRaiders: The people who go out to cities, using the cars carefully hidden by the mountain they live on, and steal food, basic items, and whatever human antibiotics they have left on store shelves. Often wear sunglasses to prevent Souls from realizing what they are, and usually travel at night. Raiders are usually fit, strong men but sometimes women who can definitely fight will come along. They're often gone for weeks. Preparers: Sometimes jokingly called "Chef", these people use the food provided by the raiders, hunters, and gatherers and make meals. Usually only two a day; breakfast and dinner. Since the wood stoves that came with the camp site make a lot of smoke, they tend to cook at night or early in the morning. Farmers: They work hard on the fields in the North Wing, often several hours a day. They weed, plow, plant, and water the plants there themselves. This is a job you really only do for one day, then take a day to rest since it's extremely tiring. Teachers/Caretakers: These people will teach younger children things to make sure they're educated. They also 'babysit' these kids during the day. Guards: Basically, these people 'guard' the caves night and day, to alert anyone if something happens. They're usually found wandering around the entrance, to make sure nothing gets in. Cleaners: Though everyone is pretty good at picking up after themselves, these cleaners go around and pick up or clean things that aren't quite right. No one wants to live in filth. Obviously, there will be other 'chores' that will need to be done. Since I can't possibly thing of them all, please PM me if you've thought of one that should definitely be added.V I E W SThis group isn't exactly peaceful, but they aren't extremely violent. While they most definitely want their world back, they aren't willing to kidnap dozens of Souls to do so. Raiders do occasionally bring back a Soul from their trips to see if they can take the Soul out, but it is not every raid. This group is also extremely wary of newcomers, and most take a while to warm up to them. They don't want their safe hide-out to be discovered...there's no way they'd be able to find such a place again.

N E V A D A Initially finding their hideout was a complete accident. Their leader had been running through a forested mountain, trying to find a cave or something to hide from the Souls tracking them. After finding a cave, that might've once been used for mining, they found out there was a second exit at the end of one of its winding tunnels. It led to another part of the mountain, lower down and completely hidden from overhead view. There were a couple of cabins and a fire pit there, as if it was a forgotten camp site. After more exploring, they discovered a sign-- "Sierra Nevada Rehabilitation Retreat". Whoever had built the place had created it in secret, therefore it was a somewhat of a safe house. Just miles from Lake Tahoe, this group has a pretty good supply of resources. When they can't get to their cars to get food from cities, they can resort to hunting the animals in the Sierra Nevada and Lake Tahoe.
The clearing in which this camp is situated isn't completely clear. There are several trees scattered around, which help block it from view. However, it also makes for a rather dark place to be in daylight. At night, stars are barely able to be seen. There are dozens of cabins varying in size; it's basically what you'd expect to see from a summer camp. There's a massive one that is known as the Mess Hall, where people eat and food is stored and prepared (however, it must be cooked outside since there is no electricity). Another large cabin, which looks more like a small house, has several rooms inside with many hospital-like beds--all which were here before these humans decided to live here. This house has become known as the Clinic, especially since there was already a lot of first-aid supplies in cabinets within it. Other cabins scattered around are one or two rooms, and completely empty. Many were created by these humans themselves, in order to make more room. Two to four people share a cabin (though it's usually no more than three). A third large cabin is basically used for meetings. Around the camp, there are several areas that could be used as sports, such as soccer. There's a tether-ball in a sand pit, though the little kids tend to play with the sand pit rather than tether-ball. This place is basically a summer camp, though the mood is rather grave.

Raiders: The people who go out to cities, using the cars carefully hidden by the mountain they live on, and steal food, basic items, and whatever human antibiotics they have left on store shelves. Often wear sunglasses to prevent Souls from realizing what they are, and usually travel at night.
Hunters: The people who hunt deer, birds, and whatever edible animals are on the mountain. Usually stick to deer and birds, though, since that is familiar to them. Will use homemade bow & arrows, or knives to catch them. No guns, since that may attract Soul attention. Hunters don't really do any other chores, since they're gone all day doing this. Will sometimes also do a Gatherer's job.
Gatherer: Similar to the hunters, they go out and find food. However, instead of animals, they find edible plants and will also grab buckets of water from lakes and streams. Should be informed in this sort of thing, since it is easy to grab poisonous plants.
These chores are pretty much done all the time, so anyone doing these don't really do the chores below. Anyone who isn't a raider, hunter, or gatherer will "rotate" through the jobs below.
Farmers: There is small patch of land further down the mountain that is totally cleared, perfect for farming. And so, they plant vegetables and tend to them, hoping they will turn out. Most of the time, only half of these veggies are eatable, and if they are, they're incredibly small.
Teachers/Caretakers: These people will teach younger children things to make sure they're educated. They also 'babysit' these kids during the day.
Guards: Basically, these people 'guard' the camp night and day, to alert anyone if something happens. They usually walk around a bit during the day, but stay in place at night. Obviously, they switch often to prevent anyone from getting tired.
Cleaners: Though everyone is pretty good at picking up after themselves, these cleaners go around and pick up or clean things that aren't quite right. No one wants to live in filth.
Obviously, there will be other 'chores' that will need to be done. Since I can't possibly thing of them all, please PM me if you've thought of one that should definitely be added.

This group is more peaceful than the other two. Violence isn't something they normally like, but will defend themselves if necessary. They're tired of running, and this camp was a miracle. Hidden almost perfectly, they couldn't have asked for more. (Except for a soul-free world, of course.) While they are curious as how to remove a Soul from their bodies, they wouldn't actually experiment on it. This group is more concerned with survival than trying to find a way to get rid of the Souls.

A R I Z O N A As young teens, two brothers visited the Grand Canyon often. They would venture around, climbing through even the most dangerous areas, even after a ranger told them it was dangerous. And it most certainly was. One day, the younger brother, Christian, fell about twenty feet from a ledge. Instead of dying, he fell right in front of an outcrop that shadowed several rectangular openings. It was pretty much invisible to everyone, unless they happened to fall like he had. The boy called his brother down and they explored. Day after day, they came back, making it into some sort of club house. They began to bring food into it, and other things such as wood stoves, blankets, games, flashlights, and many other things they wouldn't realize they would need. Eventually, as the boys grew older, they forgot about their hide-out. It wasn't until the younger boy, Christian, realized what was happening that he remembered. Having no idea where his brother was, he made his way back to the safe hide-out. After a couple days, he left to grab some things that would make it more habitable. More non-perishable food, mattresses, silverware, plates, oil lamps, and so on. He left and came back every couple of days, basically creating a house for a couple dozen people. Then he began to bring in other humans. Once he'd brought in about five or so, and had been living there for several weeks, his brother came along with some of his friends. They had an argument then, over the older man bringing in random people, and eventually who would 'lead', but the people chose Christian and that was it.
The place is actually rather large. At one point in the past, it might have been an Indian tribe's home; everyone seemed to think the place looked a bit like an unfinished pueblo. There are four main entrances, all that lead to different areas. Of course, there are separate doorways that lead to each of these as well. There is a section for sleeping--several different rooms, none with just one person. There isn't enough room for one person to sleep alone. However, there are more than enough blankets and mattresses for everyone. Second, there is a 'hospital' area; a couple different rooms that are used for different hospital-like things. There's a room deep into this area that is used specifically to hold Souls. Next. there is a storage area that holds food not being used that day, and anything else that isn't being used. Then there's a fourth area, which contains many different places. It's the largest out of all. Within this area is a room for cooking, a 'living' room, and a 'game' room. No matter where you go, the floors are dusty and everything tends to be dirty. The air gets suffocating after a while, so many people end up leaving during the day and sit outside in front of their home.

Doctor: Cordelia "Doc" Kaine-- Doesn't actually have to be a certified doctor, just someone who knows what they're doing when it comes to injuries. Is a must-need for any group, otherwise they'd easily fall ill and die. For this group, the Doctor should definitely have been a doctor of some sort, and should be alright with 'experimenting' on Souls. Should want to, actually. Spends most of his/her time in the Clinic. Assistant: (to the Doctor) None-- Basically, if there is someone else that has some sort of medical history, though not as much as the Doctor, they'll be known as the doctor's assistant. They'll also help out in the clinic, but won't be there as often as the doctor. Also helps out with normal chores. Often wear sunglasses to prevent Souls from realizing what they are, and usually travel at night. Hunters: The people who hunt whatever is found in the Grand Canyon, usually rabbits but, if they're lucky, big horn sheep and mule deer. Since using guns isn't a good idea (they could be found), they tend to use knives and sometimes even a homemade bow. Gatherer: Similar to the hunters, they go out and find food. However, since edible plants are rather hard to come by, they also grab water and things left behind by tourists to the Grand Canyon. Usually, they spend most of the day wandering around, and must have a good sense of direction (and balance). These chores are pretty much done all the time, so anyone doing these don't really do the chores below. Anyone who isn't a raider, hunter, or gatherer will "rotate" through the jobs below. Preparers: Sometimes jokingly called "Chef", these people use the food provided by the raiders, hunters, and gatherers and make meals. Usually only two a day; breakfast and dinner. They use a couple of camping stoves that have been altered so they don't give off much smoke at all, allowing them to cook whenever. Teachers/Caretakers: These people will teach younger children things to make sure they're educated. They also 'babysit' these kids during the day. There are also some "teachers" that will teach older kids to fight and fend for themselves, should they have to. Guards: Basically, these people 'guard' the camp night and day, to alert anyone if something happens. They usually walk around a bit during the day, but stay in place at night. Obviously, they switch often to prevent anyone from getting tired. Since I can't possibly thing of them all, please PM me if you've thought of one that should definitely be added.V I E W SThis group tends to be more violent than the rest. But perhaps its just the leaders that are violent. Either way, they won't stand to allow their world to be occupied by these "parasites". And apparently, the only way to get rid of them is to take them out. By Christian's orders, they grab Souls from crowded areas and bring them back to their home, to 'experiment'. Basically experiment on how to get the Souls out, while hurting the humans as little as possible. And, if possible, try to get the human's mind back. Most seem to be 'too far gone.' But that doesn't mean they're going to stop. [/div][/center]
